More Areas to Explore

Version 0.28.23 Beta (Explorer)

In this demo, you can explore more areas. I also fixed a number of bug fixes, some of which were major.

  • Explore 4 area maps in Sandhaven:
    • Stables
    • Sandhaven Road
    • Upper Market District
    • Residential District
  • The following interiors are available to explore too:
    • Alchemist's House
    • The house next to the Alchemist's
    • The Explorer's Guild (the Main Hall and Basement)

Hints & Tips

  • Talk to Maria (in the Guild's Bar area) before and after you join the Guild
  • See if you can find the hidden "cache" (after you've purchased a shovel from the Guild Store)
  • Be sure to use the Compass after you obtain it (just to see how it works).

I played this for the first time just now and I really enjoyed seeing the hard work you put into this! I didn't explore for very long at all (only for about 10 minutes because it's extremely late here and i'm ready for bed haha!) but the amount of effort and dedication you've put in already is so evident! It's so neat!

I typically only ever make use of small environments with pixel graphic characters in bakin, so everything tends to be so simple and small. It was like seeing a new world of possibilities of what's capable in bakin. I felt like I was wandering around in an MMO environment or something, so it felt oddly nostalgic to me to explore! haha.

I love seeing what others can do in bakin, and i'm glad i saw this on my feed (after i finally stopped following a creator that clogged my feed with a million updates every hour 😭hahaha)

Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, I put quite a lot of work into the game, including learning Blender more seriously. It's been fun creating things for it and trying to push Bakin (and myself) a bit further each time.

I played through a bit of Tragedy of the Fell Crab and enjoyed it immensely, though would ideally like to start doing video playthroughs of games as well.

I hear ya about the "million updates every hour". Stopped following a few of those. It's like cleaning a window. Once the grime is gone, you can actually see out of it again. Haha!

I'm glad to hear you've been expanding your knowledge and learning more with Bakin! I feel you with that. Thanks to Bakin, I've been a lot more diligent and consistent when it comes to expressing my creativity through game creation! It's the only game engine that's really clicked with me!

And thank you for playing the Prints Crab game! Hehe, I had a lot of fun with it. I have a list of all sorts of game mechanics/ideas I'd like to one day implement in a game. One of those ideas was an ace attorney-inspired/court/investigation type of game. So I honestly kind of latched onto that game jam solely as an excuse to churn out one of my ideas and cross it off the list. i didn't put much care or consideration into the theme of the jam, but i certainly learned a loooot about bakin and had so much fun! Bakin is just so amazing to me and I can't get enough of seeing what other people do with the engine

Man, I'm typing and rambling too much now. But yeah, I really like seeing your creations. I even saw your latest video about intending to make more videos and bakin content/tutorials. It'd be nice to see more content from you, especially since I actually really like listening to your voice. Idk how to end this long-ass reply LOL! But it's always a joy to see you pop up in my feeds and I hope you are well!

You're right about Bakin just clicking. It was the same way with me and SGB originally. Right place, right time when I was offered to beta-test it and that clicked, so since Bakin is essentially its spiritual successor the same applied. However, whatever knowledge I gained from SGB was more easily transferred to Bakin, as opposed to going straight to UE5 or even Godot. Teaching an old dog new tricks. LOL

The only problem is I want to now push Bakin to beyond its limits, hence The Explorer's Guild!
